FRUSTRATING

Luka Modric’s time in Real Madrid last season was a frustrating one as he had struggled to get on Mourinho’s main team and had to settle with spending most of his time on sidelines of the Spanish club.

Jose Mourinho’s tactics were put into question on a lot of the occasions where he benched certain players as what the case with Ricardo Kaka and Iker Casillas. The experienced goalkeeper was a 2nd choice of Mourinho who would put ahead Diego Lopez.

Diego Lopez did make a number of impressive performances with Real Madrid and still does but to put him instead of Casillas was a decision that baffles many people meanwhile Ricardo Kaka had to face a number of set-backs in Real Madrid as the vast number of injuries that he suffered from, kept him mostly on the sidelines than on the pitch.

However when he was fully fit and in the rare occasions that he made appearances for Real Madrid, the Brazilian displayed flashes of brilliance of the player he used to be but it still was not enough for him to secure a permanent spot in Jose Mourinho’s thought of mind.

Now with Carlo Ancelotti at the head of Real Madrid, Modric is coming through for the team as he is one of the players most used in this season behind the likes of: C.Ronaldo, Ramos, Pepe and Benzema.

The Croatian even received praise as Ancelotti said that his combination alongside Xabi Alonso has provided the team with a steady balance of attack and defence. The contributions of Modric for Real Madrid extend even further out of the pitch as he has helped Gareth Bale settle down in the team and even teaching him some Spanish.

Modric is enjoying some of the best times of his career in Real Madrid now all that is left is to see how far he can go and what he can accomplish in Spain, he has left a gap which still has not been filled in Tottenham.
