The Croatian international could not prevent Real Madrid from losing to Athletic Bilbao. The immediate past Spanish Super Cup holders were beaten 2-1 by Bilbao courtesy a brace from ex-Atletico Madrid player Raul Garcia in the first half, while Real Madrid scored their goal through leading goalscorer Karim Benzema.
