MODRIC SAYS SORRY

The Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the star midfielder Luka Modric has issued an apology to the club after his fiasco to force a move to Real Madrid. The Croatian midfielder has been one of the best players for Tottenham in recent seasons. He came extremely close to leaving for Premier league club Chelsea in the last transfer window only for him to be persuaded by the chairman Daniel Levy that the club will be aiming for the Champions League. However, after their failed attempts to secure the Champions League football, Luka Modric is extremely interested in securing a move away from the club.

As a result, he was not present in the squad that flew to the United States as part of the pre-season tour. The new manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that Luka Modric need not bother about flying to the United States in order to join with his teammates. This comes after the 26-year-old offered a public apology to the club. It is expected that the club will be discussing terms with Real Madrid over potential transfer. The Spanish club, however, are not willing to go beyond the £ 30 million transfer fee mark, while Tottenham are demanding around £ 40 million.

“He is, of course, an extremely good player, he’s helped Tottenham to reach success in the last couple of years. The fact that its been difficult for us to deal with clubs is because of Luka’s dimension as a player and what he does for any team. Any coach would like to count on that dimension. He is still our player at the moment and at the moment I’m counting on him. He is in London, we decided for him to stay in London but I don’t think he will come out here,” said Andre Villas-Boas.
