TIME TO MOVE?

Luka Modric was the big-money signing for Spanish club Real Madrid in the summer, but he has taken quite a long while to settle at the Santiago Bernebeu. It has resulted in several rumours linking him with a move away from the club in the summer. He has even been linked with a return to the Premier league with the likes of Manchester United interested in him. The agent of the Croatian midfielder, though, has rejected such rumours by saying that his client will remain as a Real Madrid player into next season as well.

The 27-year-old was signed from Tottenham for around £ 35 million, but he has been overshadowed by the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alonso, and Angel di Maria. This has resulted in him starting very few matches in the league, but he has been improving in recent months. Modric’s goal was crucial in helping Real Madrid get into the quarter-finals of the Champions league by beating Manchester United. There have been recent reports that Inter Milan may be interested in the possibility of signing him as a replacement for Wesley Sneijder, who was sold in the January transfer window to Turkish club Galatasaray.

“Luka will stay at Real Madrid. I don’t think there is any chance that we can see him in a different shirt in the next few years. Would he say no to Inter to stay at Real? I think so. Even if Inter are a good side, Luka wants to stay at Real. Luka wants to only play for Real Madrid and there isn’t the slightest chance that he will leave,” said his agent in a recent interview. Milan have been struggling hugely without the presence of a playmaker like Sneijder. Modric is a similar kind of player, who could be available for around £ 20 million.
