MODIC SET FOR LOYALTY BONUS

Tottenham are set to offer midfielder Luka Modric with a loyalty bonus of £ 3.5 million, which will be a great news for the Croatian midfielder. Luka Modric was linked heavily with a move to Chelsea in the summer. Chelsea were even prepared to pay around £ 45 million for the midfielder, who has been in inspirational form for Tottenham this season.

Initially, there were many doubts regarding the commitment of Luka Modric to Spurs. Many were of the opinion that the club should not be keeping a player who is not interested in staying, but Luka Modric has proved otherwise and has been responsible for a brilliant season so far for Tottenham.  Chelsea badly missed a player of Modric’s level, with Fernando Torres failing to set the Premiership on fire.

Due to this, it has a reported that Tottenham are willing to offer up to £ 3.5 million in the hope that he will not be interested in securing a move this summer as well. They’re also willing to break their wage structure in order to persuade Luka Modric to commit to a new contract. Tottenham have a strict wage structure, which has not allowed them to pay beyond £ 60,000 for any player. Luka Modric is likely to become the first player to get a contract worth £ 100,000 per week, which is still far below the offer of £ 150,000 per week by Chelsea.

However, it is very much likely that Luka Modric will not be willing to commit to Tottenham, as the future of manager Harry Redknapp is in limbo. Harry Redknapp has been linked with the England managerial position. His departure would certainly put Tottenham in a difficult situation because it will be extremely difficult to replace a manager, who has done a lot in the last three seasons with the club. Harry Redknapp has been responsible for making Luka Modric into a world-class midfielder.
